Alison Krauss was born July 23, 1971, in Decatur, Illinois. She and LeAnn Kymes were two of the earliest recipients of a Grammy Award. Alison Maria Krauss was born in July of 1971. Alison is a country and bluegrass artist. Alison Maria Krauss started her music career early, winning local competitions at the age of 10. Her first recording was her first recording at the age 14. Signed to Rounder Records, her first album came out in 1987. After that, she was asked to join Alison Krauss Union Station, her current band that she sings with. Her debut album in a group with this group came out in 1989.
